Seker Bayram
Following Ramazan is a three day holiday celebrating the breaking of their month of fast and in general just a time of being with family, friends and neighbors. We visited some old friends from our previous neighborhood and had a wonderful time. We also spent yesterday, the last day of the Seker Bayram visiting our new neighbors. It was a great time. We have found a wonderful community, many of the members having lived here for 15 years or more and remembering when there were just fields around them. We brought chocolates and they served us Turkish coffee, Ayran (a yogurt drink), tea and all sorts of home made goods like baklava and sarma (rice and spices rolled in grape leaves). We were even given a plate of freshly cooked fish (small like sardines) by a neighbor as we were just passing by. Malachi loves fish!! It was a good day, filled with good conversation and good will.

What a great way to get to know the neighbors and neighborhood. We pry you are feeling accepted and getting into the swing of things. Moving is not easy but can be fun. One day at a time and roll with the punches I guess.
